Site Superintendent

Location: Chicagoland Area

Position Overview

Mazur & Son is an established 75 year old commercial Construction Manager/General Contractor serving primarily in the education space as well as church and commercial buildings. The candidate must be a leader with strong interpersonal and management skills. The Construction Superintendent is responsible for the day-to-day operations, managing subcontractors and coordinating with the client from contract to completion. The site superintendent must possess organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure all work is constructed according to all submittals, plans, specifications, and subcontracts. 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Collaborate on master project schedule before the job kickoff
  • Provide logistic planning input during preconstruction
  • Create a positive and fair work environment
  • Open the construction site at the beginning of each day and secure the site at the end of each day
  • Manage all subcontractors/construction personnel on the job site
  • Establish goals, critical path schedules for each trade and completion timelines for the construction team
  • Assist the project manager in weekly owner/architect meetings
  • Collaborate with contractors, project managers, engineers, architects, and owners
  • Communicate all changes and decisions with owner
  • Ensure construction complies with safety, health, and quality standards
  • Track and record daily reports, RFIs, ASIs etc. 
  • Coordinate building inspections with state and local jurisdictions, as require
  • Coordinate end-of-project punch list and ensure completion of items
  • Coordinate and review closeout documents as well as end user training

Skills/ Abilities

  • OSHA 30 Preferred
  • Proficiency in reading construction documents.
  • Proficiency in scheduling
  • Knowledge of MEP Systems
  • Ability to create daily reports and upload daily photos/documents
  • Ability to be extremely organized and work well under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Ability to proactively anticipate, recognize and resolve problems
  • Ability to work well under pressure while keeping composure
  • Ability to present as a proposed superintendent for a potential project
